The Quest for Observability with IOpipe

This serverless adventure begins with our brave and talented heroes, standing in a cloudy landscape surrounded by functions and unarmed except for a trusty developer rig, way too many browser windows, and an AWS account.

Serverlessconf NYC is right around the corner. With an amazing speaker lineup, public data hackathon, and a full range of training courses from Trek10 and A Cloud Guru, we’re excited to participate as an event sponsor.

While serverless continues to grow in adoption, developers still cite challenges in observability as a major hurdle to overcome. As part of Serverlessconf NYC, we’re making our brand new ServerlessReady Player’s Guide: The Quest for Observability available at our booth and online.

The guide includes common power-ups, foes, and basic and advanced moves. We’ll also be hosting a drawing for a Nintendo Switch, along with a copy of Link’s Awakening, for anyone who stops by our booth.

If you’re interested in connecting with us at Serverlessconf, schedule a time here or just swing by the booth.

Handling Billions of Requests Without Breaking a Sweat with Erica Windisch

2:40–3:05, Tuesday, Oct. 8

In addition to the Quest for Observabiity at Serverlessconf, IOpipe CTO and co-founder Erica Windisch will be sharing her approach for building a scalable data pipeline on serverless.

The availability of AWS Lambda and streaming technologies, such as Kinesis, make it simple for anyone to build apps that scale to processing billions of API requests per month.

As a leader in serverless dev tooling for monitoring and observability, IOpipe provides real-time visibility into a user’s Lambda functions. This means we ingest a lot of data — sometimes billions of records per day during major events like Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day or Cyber Monday for our large retail users.

Some questions she’ll answer:

  • How does one cost-effectively operate such an API?
  • How do you pick data stores to handle this size of a data stream?
  • Where are the scaling pain points?
  • Why doesn’t everyone do this?

See you at Serverlessconf NYC!

About IOpipe

As the leader in serverless dev tooling for monitoring and observability, IOpipe offers real-time visibility into the most granular behaviors of today’s serverless applications on AWS Lambda.

Founded in 2016 by Erica Windisch and Adam Johnson, IOpipe reduces debugging time from hours to seconds, delivers transparent insights into the behaviors and performance of your serverless functions, and reduces risk for enterprises shifting to serverless.

Working with global brands like Matson, Rackspace, and APM Music, IOpipe empowers engineering teams to deliver with confidence, debug intelligently, and get busy building the impossible.

In other words, IOpipe makes it a lot more fun to be a developer. Visit www.iopipe.com to learn more and try it for free.
